My two kids are interested in drawing the Japanese Cartoon, which I encouraged them to practice and use Photoshop. It has also inspired me to teach them how to draw and paint, using brush in Photoshop CS6
1. We have to start by create a new document as canvas in Photoshop CS6
2. Select Brush tools:
Go to Window>Brush (F5). In this step, I would like you to take a look in Brush Tool, Pencil Tool and Mixer Brush Tool
- Brush Options Menu Bar
- Pencil Options Menu Bar
- Mix Brush Options Menu Bar
When you select the brush, there will be the additional options in menu bar. Click at the menu drop down, you can adjust the sizes, hardness of the brush which you select, including the opacity and flow, etc.
- Brush Present:
Go to window>Brush Present
It is the place to save of different brush tips. You can also create custom brush – create your own brush and save it here.
(*Create Custom Brush: Go to edit>Define Brush Present>Give it’s the name of the brush>OK*)
3. Keyboard Shortcuts:
It is helpful while you create your projects or art work. You can customize your own keyboard shortcuts. Go to edit>Keyboard Shortcuts>Tools
4. Using Wacom Pen Tablet
The Wacom Pen Tablet helps more control & pressure lines than using mouse in the computer. Make sure your Wacom Pen Tablet is setting and connecting in Photoshop. Check your products’ handbook.
- Pen Pressure Menu Bar Options in Photoshop CS6:
There are Tablet Pressure control size & opacity menu options, when connecting with Wacom Pen Tablet.
5. Next step to “Digital Art andCartoon Animation”
Here are the sample lists that you can apply any other tools in Photoshop to your projects, making more realistic.
-Color Adjustment Tools - Color Balance or Hue etc:
Go to image>adjustment
Or
-Gradient – Light and Shadow
-Dodge and Burn Tools
-Blur or Smudge Tools
And make sure adding more layers with click at the sample all layers in menu bar options to see your original drawing & painting from no.1
